Second Jumper - Searching for his Bloodline - Treasured Stories of the Seminoles & Chiricahua Apaches

The author, a direct descendant of the Chiricahua Apaches, reveals the struggles, sacrifices and accomplishments of his ancestors, who in 1886 were banned from their homeland in New Mexico and Arizona, and sent to prison in Florida. Shortly after their arrival, his great-grandparents were separated from the bulk of the survivors and sold to Cuba as slaves.

Siggy Second Jumper is a proud father, who has devoted his life to helping others as a Firefighter, Paramedic and RN. He is a Horse Trainer, Native American Singer and Dancer, Alligator Wrestler, and a man with a kind and humble heart, and great integrity. Mr. Jumper is also a descendant of the Chiricahua Apaches, who decided to reveal and preserve the struggles, sacrifices and accomplishments of his ancestors, who in 1886 were banned from their homeland of New Mexico and Arizona and imprisoned in Florida.

After their arrival, his great-grandparents were separated from the bulk of the survivors and sold to Cuba as slaves. Years later, their offsprings migrated to Florida, settling near the Everglades, home of the Seminole Indians. With their encouragement, the author set out on a cross-country odyssey in search of his native bloodline. His journey ended when he found a group of Chiricahuas and his long lost relatives living amongst the Mescalero Apaches of New Mexico. Welcomed and accepted, the author was inaugurated into the Medicine Circle as a singer for their Crown Dancers, whose members descended from the great warriors-Cochise, Victorio, Chihuahua, Chatto and Geronimo. Their faces, statements, and stories along with those of the only unconquered Indian Nation, the Florida Seminoles are in his book.

Siggy's book, which took five years to write, is a must read for anyone interested in the history and culture of two North American Native Tribes, the Chiricahua Apaches of the Southwest and the Florida Seminoles.

The author's goal, like those of the many participants found in his book, is to preserve their culture for future generations. Never has one book revealed so many untold stories from these two elusive groups. Although too many to list, here are some of those revelations that pertain to the Seminoles. They include, how the medicine came to them, the functions of their clans, proper techniques to wrestle an alligator, along with how they lived prior and after moving into a reservation. Learn about the Independent Seminoles, before they cease to exist.

Pertaining to the Chiricahua Apaches, the reader will learn how the Crown Dance evolved, what it’s like to be inside the medicine tepee, as the Crown Dancers prepare for ceremony. An in-depth tour will take you to White Tail, one of the most significant and sacred pieces of land in Chiricahua history. Hear what the family of Scout Chatto, the most hated Apache that ever lived, has to say on his behalf. Among the many photographs never before seen, the reader will see Geronimo as a prisoner in Florida, as well as his son and nephew, Chochise's living descendents, including his great grandsons, chief Chihuahua's son and his group of Crown Dancers. These stories, along with over one hundred photographs never before published, is what makes this book unique.
