Ingredients and Product description:
Active Manuka Honey Wound Dressings (sterilized = gamma radiated). Calcium Alginate Dressing with Active Manuka Honey is an absorbent primary wound dressing made of Active Manuka Honey UMF 15+, impregnated into a calcium alginate pad.
The dressing contains 95% Active Manuka Honey. As wound exudate is absorbed, the alginate forms a gel, which assists in maintaining a moist environment for optimal wound healing, and allows intact removal.
Directions:
Remove 1 Active Manuka Honey Wound Dressing from box and first warm package between your hands to soften the dressing. Once dressing is flexible, open the package and apply the dressing to any type of wound such as a first, second or third degree burn, diabetic leg, foot or toe ulcer, amputation stump wound, sore, bed sore (decubitus ulcer also called pressure sore), or surgical scar (caesarean, after shoulder, hip or knee operation, tummy tuck scar, face lift, breast augmentation scars etc.).
Cover Dressing with sterile gauze and keep in place with friendly skin tape - such as paper tape. After 24-48 hours, remove dressing, wash wound with sterile saline solution and apply new Active Manuka Honey Wound Dressing. Repeat, until the wound is completely healed. If dressing does not remove easily, soak dressing with sterile saline solution - then remove gently.
Do not use this wound dressing if patient has sensitivity to either honey or alginates.
Document the progress of a wound:
We always recommend to document the healing of any type of wound for your own records - as well as to share with our online readers. Take detailed, close-up digital photos of a wound, burn, ulcers, sore, or surgical scar, "before", "during" and "after" honey treatment. To submit your documented wound testimony, please go to: http://www.manukahoneyusa.com/submit-customer-testimony.htm
For DEEP WOUNDS beyond 1/8 inch, use Active Manuka Honey from the jar. Use Active Manuka Honey with a UMF Rating between 16-18.
How to apply Active Manuka Honey to any type of wound?
Active Manuka Honey is applied to burns, wounds, ulcers, sores, surgical scars, decubitus sores (bed sores), diabetic leg and foot ulcers, amputation stump wounds and other MRSA and VRE staph infected wounds. Gently wash the wound with a saline solution. Apply Active Manuka Honey to a sterile gauze, similar like spreading honey onto a toast, not too much and not too little. Then apply the gauze with the honey attached to the wound. Apply 2-3 additional layers of gauze on top of the first gauze layer, in order to help soak up excess body fluid and honey. Secure gauze around the edges with skin friendly paper tape to keep the gauze in place.
Change the Active Manuka Honey Wound Dressing once every 24 hours in the evening. Again gently wash the wound with a saline solution and apply the next honey dressing, until the wound is completely healed.
If a wound has a mal odor, it is infected. Once you start applying Active Manuka Honey to a wound, you can expect the mal odor to subside within 5-10 days, depending on the size and depth of the wound, that is about how long it takes to help clear up the infection. Next you will notice that the wound will appear less and less deep. Then you should start to see healthy pink skin form around the edges of the wound and last you’ll notice the edges of the wound shrinking in size, until the wound is completely healed.
We recommend that you document the wound healing progress by taking good, sharp clear digital photos with good lighting. Take a photo about every 3-4 days or more, depending on how fast the wound is healing. When you submit the wound photos to us, and with your permission to publish the photos online at www.manukahoneyusa.com/CustomerTestimonies.htm, we will send you a reward including free shipping.
