Natural Ingredients for Face Masks Right in Your Kitchen!

Manuka Honey Products For Skin Care

While these ingredients likely sound more like the pieces of a healthy breakfast smoothie, they also could have just as many benefits if applied topically onto the skin. If you ever feel the need for some home relaxation as opposed to a spa, try getting creative using these natural, easily-made face masks that will have your skin glowing in no time!

Surprisingly, oats are ideal for even more sensitive types of skin, given that they’re hypoallergenic and apparently contain anti-inflammatory properties. This could treat mild acne, rosacea, and eczema. In addition to being especially moisturizing and effective as an exfoliate, oats have a cleansing agent, saponin, which can help to wash impurities away while removing any dead skin cells. To mix, combine four tablespoons of rolled oats with one tablespoon of Manuka honey until the consistency is even. Apply to your face, allowing it to sit between 15 and 20 minutes, and then rinse off thoroughly.

Manuka Honey

Working with alleged natural antiseptic properties, raw Manuka honey is said to unclog pores while also keeping breakouts under control. Believed to also help remove blemishes and diminish scars, Manuka honey can be both hydrating and soothing, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and clean. To mix, apply a small amount of Manuka honey to lightly damp skin through circular motions, leaving on for about 20 minutes before rinsing off using warm water.

Known by some as a natural Botox, bananas are flush with vitamins B6, C, and E as well as potassium, all of which work well to hydrate cells while strengthening connective tissue for maintaining skin elasticity. The peel’s inner surface can also apparently reduce puffy eyes, due to high potassium that helps draw out excess fluid in the skin and minimize swelling. To use, mash up one ripe banana and apply to the face evenly, leaving on for about 15 minutes before rinsing using cold water.

Admittedly, avocados sound more appealing as guacamole than as a topical face mask, but they have nourishing oils, which are known for revitalizing dehydrated, dry skin. Filled with vitamins C and E, antioxidants, and good fats, avocados are brilliant moisturizers that penetrate deep into the pores and promote glowing, unblemished skin. To use, mash half of an avocado up and spread onto your face evenly. Leave the mask on between 10 and 15 minutes before washing it off and gently patting dry.

Due to the high-water content they contain, cucumbers are natural cooling agents and great for hydrating the skin. Also, the peel contains silica—a mineral that greatly strengthens connective tissue, producing tight, firm skin as a result. To mix, puree one cold cucumber with a blender before moving into a bowl. Massage the mixture into your face with circular motions. Let the mask sit for about 15 minutes, and then rinse off. Alternatively, you can place two cucumber slices over tired, puffy eyes for a quick refresh.
